“Some think that ‘existence’ is and others that ‘nothing’ is. Rare is the one who thinks neither. He is perfectly serene, free from all distractions.”

- Ashtavakra Gita

To understand this;
The lines above are not hinting at running from Life which could only take place in one's mental landscape because life as it is is already happening here and now, though you maybe here or not which is to say that Presence maybe or not.
Contrary to all misbelief, the emptier you are which you could only be of all your accumulations—Thought—ideas, beliefs, conclusions etc the more available you are to Life here and now—a point where all Life happens, a point which serves as the ground for any effective planning that might be needed. Nothing is lost with Emptiness but all is gained, if anything at all.
No thought (or an awareness of Thought) means No Mind which means No one to be free or bound.
In other words, whatever You-Mind thinks you become as the Mind at the point it thinks, believes, or imagines is not separate from You—the identity/becoming. Beyond it, there isn't a thing and therefore there is neither one nor two, neither real nor unreal, neither whole nor part, neither united nor separate etc etc. It just it. This is it. Here and Now.
